This car combines a vintage Aurora body with a Scalextric NASCAR chassis along with wheels and tires from a Scalextric L88 Corvette. It's the closest I could come to doing a model of the famous Herb Adams Grey Ghost, which was a 1964 Tempest built for the 1971 TransAm season.

This corvette looks close to stock, but looks can be deceiving. The motor has been moved to the rear, the magnet moved to just forward of the rear axle, and the stock wheels and tires replaced by ones from a Fly classic car. The rear tires are Maxxtrac silicones and are considerably wider than the car's original rear tires. The result is a car a LOT quicker than stock at relatively low cost.

I made the body of this car from two Monogram 1/32 scale Camaro kits. The body rides on a scratchbuilt brass chassis. Power is from an FK130 motor. There is a massive amount of body work that has gone into this car, and we'll be doing an article on it somewhere down the line.
